Our ExpectationsAt OES, we have adopted a unified set of expectations that guide appropriate behavior throughout our school and will help to create the positive learning environment we want for all students. You will see these expectations posted in different locations around the school. Our unified expectations are that Orleans Elementary School is one caring community, that is engaged in learning, and our behaviors are safe and responsible. . |
Around OESWe have identified what each expectation will look like in different locations around the school. Students are taught and practice these specific behaviors to ensure that they clearly understand what is expected of them. The three R's: Reinforce, Remind, and Redirect will be used to guide students in demonstrating the expected behaviors.

PracticesTeachers and other staff members use evidence-based practices to increase student learning and decrease classroom disruptions. To build a positive learning climate, we provide more praise than correction, actively engage everyone, use pre-correcting, prompting, and redirecting, and provide positive, immediate, frequent, and clear feedback.
|
CelebrationsWe have Nova Nuggets (pompoms) that are earned in recognition for positive behaviors. Nuggets are collected in classroom containers and, when full, the class adds their nuggets to the PBIS Rocket. We hold schoolwide celebrations as we reach milestones and have a Super Celebration each time the rocket is full.
|
ConsequencesWe also have a school-wide system of consequences for misbehaviors. Consequences range from documented warnings and time-outs to formal office referrals. Office Referrals may result in a phone call to parents to discuss the issue. Meetings between school staff and parents will enable us to work together to offer the supports needed by the student to resolve the issue.
